This 1 day course is ideal for smaller workplaces that present few health and safety risks.


Who should attend?


This course is designed for people who want to receive training in emergency first aid and is especially suited for nominated first aiders in smaller, low risk working environments.


What you will learn?


The content of this course provides basic life saving first aid and workplace health and safety regulations, covering the following:


Health and safety (first aid) regulations
Managing an incident
The priorities of first aid
Treatment of an unconscious casualty
Resuscitation
Shock
Choking
Seizures
Bleeding
Common workplace injuries.

On completion of the training, successful candidates should be able to:


Understand the role of the first aider including reference to: the importance of preventing cross infection; the need for recording incidents and actions; use of available equipment;
Assess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency;
Administer first aid to a casualty who is unconscious (including seizure);
Administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation;
Administer first aid to a casualty who is choking;
Administer first aid to a casualty who is wounded and bleeding;
Administer first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock;
Provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries (including small cuts, grazes and bruises, minor burns and scalds, small splinters).
