First Aid at Work

This course provides the comprehensive set of practical skills needed to become a confident first aider at work, giving you both the ability and knowledge to deal with first aid emergencies.

Who should attend?


This course is designed for people who want to receive our most thorough first aid training and is especially suited for nominated workplace first aiders.

What you will learn:
The content of the course will cover how to deal with the following:

Accidents and illness
Using a first aid kit
Simple record keeping
Treatment of an unconscious casualty
Heart attacks
Resuscitation
Shock
Choking
Bleeding
Burns and scalds
Poisoning
Fractures
Seizures
Asthma
Severe allergic reaction
Eye injuries
Low blood sugar
Fainting

On completion of training, successful candidates should be able to:

Provide emergency first aid at work
Administer first aid to a casualty with injuries to bones, muscles and joints, including suspected spinal injuries; chest injuries; burns and scalds; eye injuries; sudden poisoning; anaphylactic shock

Recognise the presence of major illness and provide appropriate first aid (including heart attack, stroke, epilepsy, asthma, diabetes).

Note: Formal Assessment is required at the end of the course.

Final assessment (FAW only) will determine a students ability to act safely, promptly and effectively when an emergency occurs at work and to deal with a casualty who:

is unconscious;
requires cardiopulmonary resuscitation;
is wounded and bleeding.
